MEMBER STATUS

NEW MEMBER

New members are those who are engaged in complying with the requirements for admission to Active membership. New members shall be required to complete a training course within 12 months after accepting New membership. (Body of Law, Article IV. Membership, Section 1a)

ACTIVE

Active members are those who have completed the requirements for New Membership and who, having been admitted to Active membership, justify such membership through service to their communities and their League. A Junior League member may continue her Active membership indefinitely, but may elect to become a Sustaining member upon completion of six (6) years as an Active member. (Body of Law, Article IV. Membership, Section 1b)

INACTIVE

An Active member in good standing may request to be placed on Inactive Status. Inactive Status will be granted for the period of one placement year or the remainder thereof (the remainder of a year shall be considered a full year). A member may take Inactive Status for no more than two consecutive years. Inactive Year(s) do not count towards years of Active Service for purposes of obtaining Sustainer Status. (Standing Rules, VII. Placement, Types of Placement, Inactive, 1)

COMMUNITY PLACEMENT

Members who have been Active for more than two years and desire placement other than within the League program shall submit a Community Placement Request Form describing the community job or creative endeavor that justifies Junior League placement credit through quality of service. A member with less than two years Active service may apply to the Board for special consideration. Each Community Placement is for one year only. (Standing Rules, VII. Placement, Types of Placement, 4)

ADVISORY

Advisory status will be granted to members who have completed seven years of Active service in the JLO with no more than two years' service in a Community Placement. (Standing Rules, VII. Placement, Advisory Status, 1)

SUSTAINER

The Junior League of Omaha (JLO) welcomes all League members who, after a minimum of seven fully placed Active years of Junior League service, excluding inactive years, choose to become a sustainer member. We also enthusiastically welcome sustainers transferring from other Leagues. (Body of Law, Article IV. Membership, Section 1d)

SUSTAINER EMERITUS

Sustaining Emeritus members are those members who have reached the age of 80 or above. (Body of Law, Article IV. Membership, Section 1e)

NON-RESIDENT ACTIVE (NRA)

Active and Sustaining members who are living at a distance from their Junior League area sufficient to make fulfillment of the volunteer service or other requirements impossible shall be granted the Non-Resident Active privilege and may not vote, hold office or propose candidates for membership. Non-Resident Active members who live in an area in which there is a Junior League may retain the privilege for a period not to exceed two years. (Body of Law, Article IV. Membership, Section 3d)
