Our 2007 Junior League of Omaha scholarship winners truly demonstrated outstanding volunteer performance in the metro Omaha area and embody the mission of the Junior League by promoting voluntarism and improving the community through "effective action and leadership."

Lindsay Stodden:

Lindsay Stodden is a student from Millard South High School.  She has been involved in volunteer work for over ten years.  She began volunteering for the Special Olympics when she was only seven.  Lindsay's older sister, Leah, has Down Syndrome.  Her sister has shown her what life is truly about; a genuine, caring heart.  She is also involved in "Just Friends" Mentoring program.  Lindsay mentors a young woman with Down Syndrome.  In addition to the Special Olympics and Just Friends, she has volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Invisible Children Foundation and more.  She is also actively involved with her church.  On top of all this, Lindsay maintains a very impressive grade point average at school.

Cheryl Ligon:

Cheryl Ligon will soon graduate from Benson High School.  She has been involved in volunteer work for over six years.  Cheryl has been involved with English as a second language, Youth Leadership Omaha, Girl Scouts of the Great Plains, Upward Bound and the Omaha Public Library, just to name a few.  Cheryl feels that her work volunteering has taught her the importance of communication and patience with others.  She has also learned what an impact one person can make in the world.  Cheryl has also maintained an impressive grade point average while giving of herself to others.

These outstanding students were honored at our Annual Luncheon in May.  Please join us in applauding them and their scholastic and volunteer achievements.
