Project Hope Pack

The mission of "Project Hope Pack" is to improve the Omaha and surrounding communities by providing a tool that will ease the trauma as a child moves from a crisis situation to a safe environment.  We accomplish this through the provision of an emergency service by furnishing age- and gender-appropriate backpacks full of necessities and comfort items to children who are unexpectedly removed from their homes as a result of a crisis situation.

About our Packs:  Our Packs are gender specific where appropriate and are suitable for ages 3-19.  They contain products appropriate for a diverse population and enough materials to cover a 3- to 5-day transition period.

About our Partners:  We partner with local child advocacy agencies, homeless shelters, community development agencies, government departments, and churches who distribute our Packs to the children they serve.

About our Patrons:  In addition to the work of Junior League of Omaha volunteers, we appreciate the following assistance:

·        Become a corporate sponsor.

·        Donate backpacks or unused items from our wish list.

·        Donate funds - Every $50 contribution provides one Pack and is considered tax-deductible.  Visit our eStore to make a convenient online donation.

·        Host a donation drive to collect items from our wish list.

·        Volunteer - We welcome groups of all ages!

Please contact us at projecthopepack@gmail.com for further information.

Testimonials:

"The children loved getting their backpacks and were excited to open them up to see what was in them.  It provides them with a sense of comfort and gives them something that now belongs to them."

-   Nancy Wilson, Director, Court Appointed Special
    Advocates (CASA) for Douglas County

"As a foster parent to 8 foster kids, I can tell you that this is a huge step forward in helping these kids on what is essentially the worst day of their lives.  Even battered kids are horrified when being removed from their homes.  These little things will make a difference.  Every kid I have parented just shows up with only the clothes they are wearing and nothing else."

-   Deborah Neary, foster and adoptive parent
