A Book of My Own

"A Book of My Own" collects and distributes new and gently used books to at-risk children ages 0-14.   The goal of the project is to distribute the books with the help of partner agencies to children directly so that all children have books in their home.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

·         Donate New and Gently Used Books at Junior League's my closet Boutique at 747 North 114th Street in Miracle Hills.  my closet hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11am-6pm.

·         Host a Book Drive at your school, church or office

·         Volunteer - Contact Junior League at info@juniorleagueomaha.org for volunteer opportunities

LITERACY FACTS

·         Families living in poverty often lack the money to buy new books, as well as access to libraries.

·         16% of the Omaha Population are functionally illiterate - they cannot read well enough to fill out a job application, read a food label or read to their children.

·         The typical high school dropout qualifies for only 10% of all new jobs.
